Profile Question 1What was the first science experiment you ever designed? How did it turn out?
-
Answer the question you selected for profile question 1 here (300 words):First grade, I designed an experiment to see which non-conventional liquids would best support plant growth with young tomato plants. Plants were watered with tea, orange soda, and coffee. My hypothesis was that if plants were watered with these three liquids, the ones watered with coffee would grow best. I did this because I had seen my dad always throw our coffee grounds into the garden, so I figured they must be good for something!

Profile Question 2When and why did you decide to go into a science career?
-
Answer the question you selected for profile question 2 here (300 words):I decided to go into science my freshman year of undergraduate college. I liked the details and intricacies of cell biology, and was excited about learning how plants could be utilized to solve world problems.
-
Profile Question 3What is tough about being a scientist?
-
Answer the question you selected for profile question 3 here (300 words):Sometimes it's hard not having people tell you what to do! When experiments don't turn out the way you think it will, it often leads to more questions than answers. What you do next is always the hard part, about where to go and what else to test.
