  • Research Interests (300 words)
Broadly, I enjoy thinking about plant-human interactions and how plants shape our world. For my research, I am interested in how abiotic (temperature, rain) and biotic (herbivory, decomposition by microbes) variables impact plant reproduction. I am especially curious about how climate change will alter plant reproduction in the coming years and how we can help plants survive and thrive. An important part of my work is addressing the intersection of plants and public health, and I do this by studying how the amounts of allergenic pollen in the air will change over time and under different climate conditions.

  • Profile Question 1
What is best about being a scientist?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 1 here (300 words):
Being able to ask questions about the natural world, then designing an experiment to answer your questions!

  • Profile Question 2
What is your favorite plant? Why?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 2 here (300 words):
Sassafras! I love its cinnamon-colored bark and funky leaves. Also, its leaves smell like fruit loops and its root and bark were traditionally used to make root beer!
