I am open to new experiences and I want my students to experience science in a way that I may not do in the classroom. I expect that they will come out with a better understanding of the nature and process of science while developing inquiry skills in ecology. I want them to take on different roles in experimentation and have that connection to a real scientist. I hope that this empowers them more to investigate to understand instead of studying to get the right answer. I want them to develop some self-reliance and "grit." Those things they have to develop through experiences. I have done this in the past with varying results. It helps me see the conversation between the scientists and the students and help me direct less and let the students lead more. I have done this a couple of times and I always learn something new.
